Join us for what's next.
When we started this suburban farming adventure nearly seven years ago, we had no idea how it would turn out and we never imagined it would change our lives.
The farm brought us hope. Not from the digging, dealing with weeds and unpredictable weather, but through the people we’ve met along the way, the stories they’ve told us and the connections we’ve made through the laughter, lots of smiles and even a few tears.
It’s why this announcement is so bittersweet for us. But, we've had a "move to the country" tug on our hearts for years and we're not getting any younger.
So... after much contemplation, research and deep prayer - serendipity recently hit… and it hit fast. As beautiful little farm became available in Glasgow, Kentucky. Like a lot of things we’ve done to get us here – it happened with a leap of faith. We found it (the farm) on a Thursday, toured the place on a Friday and made an offer on a Monday. With multiple offers on the table, the sellers chose us for one reason - we’re farmers and they wanted the land to remain a farm and to be given a second chance.
We're not retiring, we’re moving to southern Kentucky to start Spade and Table Farm 2.0 - on the most beautiful little piece heaven we’ve seen in a long time. It’s an old farm that needs of lots of love, but it has good fencing, rolling pastures, woods, creeks, a modest fixer-upper farmhouse and an old barn. It’s nearly the perfect place to start yet another small farm adventure.
This version of the farm has more land, so it will let us try our hand at ranching, as we'll be smack-dab in the middle of Kentucky cattle country.
Our plan is simple, build a homestead life, bring some love back to that old place and continue to produce good, clean, chemical free food for folks who what it.
Good food brings joy and health and, we believe innovative small farms are a big part of the solution. We feel called to do this right and to reconnect people to real food.
We’ll admit, the task before us is epic – we’re moving a farm and moving from a place that we’ve called home for a lifetime. They say life is a journey, so let’s stay in touch and share the adventure together. We’ll be posting on social about our progress, as well as sending out a few update emails.
We invite you to be part of this journey. We're working on the farm and our new website. If you're not on our email list, we'd be humbled if you want to be part of this journey. You can sign up below.
God Bless and with gratitude,
